Creative services for the design-challenged developer
I received an email last week that really caught my attention and put a good smile on my face...
I know you're busy, but I thought I could ask again, with a perk this time... See below to see your sign on bonus, a brand new unopened Nintendo Wii, this will vanquish "Grumpy Daddy" forever! I heard you liked bowling on the Wii and know this is perfect for taking breaks.
If you can do just 2 pages and new identity, I can have this to you in 2 days. Don't you owe it to your family to be "Happy and Fun Daddy"?
After a few reciprocal emails, we agreed to a project outline, and the Wii is currently in the mail. Needless to say... I'm no longer grumpy.

I’ve been priviledged (or lucky) enough to have a Wii since launch, and I’ve got to say that this will be one of the best barter deals you’ll probably ever agree to! Hopefully Zelda won’t eat up your ENTIRE work schedule. Congrats!

NICE! He’s onto something there with the perks idea. (Love the wiimote—your daughter’s an incredible artist.)

Haha, great negotiation skills Jesse. Make them sweat it for a while and then bag yourself a brand spanking new games console. I have an xbox 360, does that get me a footer at least?! Brilliant.

I’m not 100% sure but they look like they have the Samsung 19” Widescreen monitors that you can get at Sam’s Club for right at $180/monitor.

@seth: They’re not Samsung’s they’re Dell monitors, and they are also widescreen but the looks of it, so possibly 21-23”.
@jesse, lucky you. I also have a Wii but I haven’t really used it that much for some reason. So anyone want to do me a identity for it!

And yes… I’m throughly enjoying the Wii. My first Wii-injury was actually taking the thing out of the box where I sliced my finger open on the cardboard. I had to laugh at myself.
Last night I nearly threw my back out trying to clear a water hazard in Wii Golf too… it’s the most exercise I’ve gotten in awhile!

@IE 4.0
Big smile – why not 3.0 ;-)
To test your site in IE oldschool versions you can use MultipleIEs. http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE
So you can travel back in time without losing your current version.
@Workstation
Impressive, higher level of multitasking ;-)

I was lucky enough to join Jesse for a fun Wii night. This little toy could cause Jesse to stay up lates nights and still be grumpy. By the way this work station looks somewhat like mine. Its been an incredible advantage to work dual moniters.. I not sure I could go back. Cheers

The Wii is awesome, wish I knew how to throw a happen’ party for my Mii’s! Bought it one Saturday for my wife and kids, spent $250 on the Wii and another $50 or $60 on an extra Wii-mote and nunchuck ($310).
By the end of the day I had spent and additional $450 bucks on more games (including Super Paper Mario, Tiger Woods 07, Red steel, etc.) and 2 more controller sets and classic remotes and some ole’ school games (including classic Super Mario World, a couple other Mario titles, R-type, Galaga, etc.) purchased online… I need a support group!
Hello, my name is David Blanchet and my wife, 3 kids, some friends and even my parents (yes, even my 55+ year old parents) are Wii-holics :D
